Press Officer of Malacañang Speaks on VP Sara Duterte’s Reaction to Rumors about PBBM’s Health

Malacañang reacted to the “good luck” remarks of Vice President Sara Duterte on the rumored illness of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

In January, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spend a night under medical observation after experiencing discomfort. He was brought to St. Luke’s Medical Center and his doctors advised him to rest.

Marcos Jr. spend the night at the hospital but immediately returned to the Malacañang the following day. Amid the advice of his doctors, he refused to fully take a break from work. He stressed that there are a lot of work that needs to be done which cannot wait.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced to the public that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a medical situation characterized by inflammation in the small pouches in the colon. According to the President, stress and aging play factors in it.

Since the President was diagnosed with diverticulitis, his health he become the center of speculations and rumors. There are rumors that he is allegedly suffering from colon cancer and there are those stating that he is supposedly set to undergo an operation.

Malacañang, amid the recent rumors on the health of Marcos Jr., recently stressed once again that he is fine. According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, the President is not eating too much now as he avoids the pain of diverticulitis.

However, there are still a lot of people who are not convinced by the statement of the Palace over Marcos Jr.’s health. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was also asked about the rumored illness of the President.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said “good luck” on the rumored illness of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Malacañang recently reacted to not only to the reaction of the Vice President but as well as the question that was asked of her.

Malacañang press officer Usec. Claire Castro tagged the question as allegedly “responsible” which also supposedly earned an “irresponsible” answer. She stressed that it is not allegedly in the nature of Filipinos to mock and laugh at someone with sickness most especially when it is allegedly a made up illness to destroy the President.

“Isang sagot pero makikita niyo sa body language kung ano ang ibig sabihin… Alam natin na walang basehan pero itinanong pa rin sa kaniya. Kaya ang nakuha rin natin sa Bise Presidente ay iresponsableng sagot [na] ‘good luck’ with a smile. Bilang isang Pilipino, hindi natin gawi ang mangutya, pagtawanan ang sinumang may sakit, lalong-lalo na kung ito’y ginagawang sakit para masira ang Pangulo,” Castro said based on News5.

Furthermore, the Palace official stressed that saying that ‘an idle mind is devil’s playground’. Based on the post, during a press conference, she stressed that the Vice President laughed. She raised a question if it is a “last laugh mentality or mockey or misery”.

Amid the speculations, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently spoke about his health.
