Statement of Malacañang on Sen. Imee Marcos Claiming Marcos Sr. Allegedly Asked Her To Guard Brother Bongbong
Malacañang hit back at Senator Imee Marcos for asking forgiveness from the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. for failing to guard Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Aside from the rift between the President and the Vice President, another thing that is no secret to the Filipino people is the fact that Sen. Imee Marcos aligned herself with the Dutertes amid the family’s issue with her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, and his government.

Sen. Imee Marcos who recently urged the department of PBBM to disclose the full details about the arrest and the transfer of the custody of Duterte to the ICC (International Criminal Court) claimed that she cannot accept what was done to the former President. Following the unexpected turn of events in 2025, she left the senatorial slate of her brother.
The Senator became an independent candidate but was later on endorsed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. They are visibly close to each other. Recently, the Senator talked about forgiving and asking for forgiveness.

According to Sen. Imee Marcos, she wants to apologize to her late father, former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., as she failed to look after Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The presidential Sister claimed that her father allegedly used to tell her to guard her younger brother.
“Ang dapat ihingi ko ng tawad sa tatay ko… na hindi ko nagampanan, ‘yung utos niya… parating ibinibilin si Bongbong. “Bantayan mo ‘yung kapatid mo…” Di ko nabantayan, eh,” she said.
Furthermore, Sen. Imee Marcos also claimed that she supposedly rarely get to talk with Pres. Bongbong Marcos as there are allegedly a lot of obstructions between them. Recently, Malacañang reacted to the claim of the presidential Sister.

Based on News5, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro asked if Sen. Imee Marcos is apologizing for not looking after Pres. Bongbong Marcos or for damaging his reputation in public. The Senator previously accused the President of alleged illegal drug use in front of a televised speech.
“Ang paghingi ng patawad, [doon ba sa] hindi pagbantay sa kanyang kapatid o paninira sa kapatid sa publiko?” Castro expressed.

Furthermore, based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro also stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos usually does not go emotional in front of the public. The Palace official also claimed that the President is married, has a family, and is faithful to his wife until now.
“Ang Pangulo, hindi nagmumura, hindi nagme-meltdown lalo na sa publiko, at hindi nagbabanta sa buhay ninuman. Ang Pangulo, ikinasal, may pamilya, at hanggang ngayon, faithful sa asawa. Sino po kaya ang naging pasaway ang dapat na binantayan?” the Malacañang press Usec. said.
Aside from wanting to apologize to her late father, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also apologized to the Dutertes most especially Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
