Statement of Malacañang on VP Sara Duterte’s Criticism vs. Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Gov’t
Malacañang slammed Vice President Sara Duterte for criticizing the Marcos Jr. government over the Middle East war.
Iran recently told the world to get ready for oil that would supposedly cost $200 per barrel. The statement of Iranian military command spox Ebrahim Zolfaqari came amid the escalating tension between his country, the United States, and Israel.
U.S. and Israel previously joined forces and launched airstrikes against Iran. The strong move led to the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The escalating tension in the Middle East has sparked global concern over oil price hike.
United States Pres. Donald Trump previously claimed that the high prices of oil will allegedly be “short-term”. According to him, the conflict will be ended soon and Iran may be hit much harder if it will disrupt the global oil flow.
However, the claim of Trump seemingly did not go along with the response of Iran. According to Iranian Prime Minister Abbas Araghchi, they will continue to launch missile attacks as long as needed and negotiating with U.S. is no longer on their agenda.
In the Philippines, the escalating tension in the Middle East has left countless Filipinos worried over their loved ones in the affected areas as well as the possible big-time increase in fuel prices. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte criticized the Marcos Jr. government over the alleged lack of urgency in bracing the possible impacts of the war.
Recently, based on News5, Malacañang has reacted to the criticism of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against the Marcos Jr. government over its alleged lack of urgency in responding to the possible impacts of the escalating tension in the Middle East. The Vice President claimed that there were allegedly indications of a looming war then as early as 2022.
Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro recalled that the BBM-Sara tandem was campaigning in 2022. She raised questions if the Vice President has mentioned about it to Pres. Bongbong Marcos or to the authorities given that she knew about it.
“Noong 2022 nangangampanya pa sila ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., Uniteam sila. May nabanggit ba siya sa Pangulo tungkol dito? May nabanggit ba siya sa Department of National Defense?” Castro said.
The Malacañang press official stressed that it is allegedly Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s obligation to let the authorities know about it. Based on the post, the Palace official claimed that it is allegedly a breach of public trust.
“Kung siya ay may alam at hindi niya ito binanggit sa ating mga kababayan, sino ang hindi nagtrabaho? Sino ang walang ginawa? Hindi ba obligasyon niya bilang bise presidente na ipaalam sa mga awtoridad? Kung hindi niya ito sinabi, definitely, this is a breach of public trust,” Malacañang said.
Amid the escalating tension in the Middle East, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. claimed that the Philippine government is already looking for oil supply. He stressed that it can be predicted as to how long the war will last even if the country still has supplies now.
