Man Stabs Wife & Eldest Child on Black Saturday
A man who was allegedly driven by gambling addiction stabbed his wife and eldest child in Angono, Rizal.
On the morning of Black Saturday (April 4, 2026), a 45-year-old woman died after being stabbed in the neck by her husband inside their home in a subdivision in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono, Rizal.
The couple’s 15-year-old eldest child was also injured after being attacked multiple times inside a bedroom. Despite the serious injuries, the teenager managed to survive by pretending to be lifeless.
It gave the suspect time to leave the room, allowing the child to find a chance to escape through the front door. The victim was quickly brought to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
Their 12-year-old child also managed to run out of the house during the incident. The two siblings later reunited outside and immediately asked help from a nearby security guard, which led to a quick response from the authorities.
When police arrived, they discovered the lifeless body of the mother inside the master bedroom. The suspect was found in the bathroom after harming himself. A kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating what led to the incident, but early information from relatives suggests that the suspect may have been struggling with online gambling and mounting debts. It is believed that these personal problems may have caused emotional stress that led to violent acts.
“May mga naka-witness na nagsusugal siya ang suspek sa online, sa cellphone. Nakapangutang nang nakapangutang ‘yung suspek. Siguro sa kakaisip niya ng problema o ito na rin siguro ang nagbigay ng dahilan para gawin niya ito,” Angono Municipal Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Azurin said.
The suspect is currently recovering after undergoing surgery and has not yet given a statement. He is expected to face serious charges, including parricide and attempted parricide.
