MARCOS JR. – The President released a message for the Filipino people as we celebrate the Day of Valor or “Araw ng Kagitingan”.
Today is a holiday in the Philippines as April 9 in the observance of the Day of Valor or the Araw ng Kagitingan and it is a regular holiday in the list of Philippine Holidays 2026. It is one of the constant regular holidays in the country.

April 9 is the day when the Filipinos observe the courage, bravery, and sacrifices of our ancestors during the World War II. This event particularly remembers the Fall of Bataan and the Bataan Death March.
Being a regular holiday, there is currently no work in government officials and classes in schools in all levels are suspended, too. In the private sector, those who need to report to work are entitled to a holiday pay today.

As we celebrate the Araw ng Kagitingan today, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued an inspiring message for the Filipino people. In his official statement for today’s national celebration, the Chief Executive greeted the entire Filipino nation with a significant and peaceful celebration of the Day of Valor.

Marcos Jr. highlighted our act of remembering today the sacrifices and bravery of the Filipinos who fought for the freedom of the Philippines. He stressed that they have shown in the corridors of Bataan that the real heroes do not surrender despite the exhaustion they feel, the struggle, and the grief.
“Ang kanilang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan. Ito ay buhay na paalala na ang diwa ng kagitingan ay nananatili sa bawat Pilipinong patuloy na nagsusumikap at bumabangon para sa kanilang pamilya at sa bayan,” the President wrote.
Furthermore, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also stated that although we are facing different challenges now, what we need to overcome them do not change — concern towards our fellows, unity, and love for the country. In his message to the Filipino people as we celebrate the Day of Valor, the President invited every Filipino to enliven the bravery in every right decision, in every act of helping another Filipino, and in every stand for the truth.

According to the President, the real strength of a nation is not only measured based on the success of the celebration but on how we stood and fought as a nation. Marcos Jr. called on the people to always choose to be good Filipinos so we can achieve a new Philippines.
“Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ang araw na ito sa bawat Pilipino. Sama-sama nating ipagpatuloy ang adhikain ng kagitingan sa araw-araw nating pagpili na maging mabuting Pilipino upang makamit natin ang isang Bagong Pilipinas,” the President stated in his message released by Malacañang.

Amid the speculations about his health, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently broke his silence on his health.
