Pres. Marcos Jr. Speaks on 2028 Elections
MARCOS JR. – The Philippine President spoke about the kind of leader that the Filipino people should elect in 2028.
After Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will run for president in 2028, the visit of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to Naga and his meeting with Mayor Leni Robredo for Oplan Kontra Baha which came after it became controversial. It sparked speculations that political talks are probably going on between the President and the Naga City Mayor.

Naga Mayor Leni Robredo clarified that there’s “no politics” in her meeting with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to the former Vice President, it is way to early to talk about the 2028 Elections. She believes that it will be a “disservice” to the people of Naga so she refused to talk about the next national elections.
As for Marcos Jr., he claimed that the most political thing that he did during his meeting with Naga Mayor Leni Robredo is wearing his pink socks. He stressed that it is in honor of the Naga Mayor. Robredo’s campaign color in 2022 was pink.

Recently, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. admitted that they are “talking to some people” and “have some people in mind” with regards to the 2028 Elections. the President was asked about the qualities that the Filipino people should elect for the next leader of the country.
According to the President, the Filipino people should not elect “someone who is thinking about politics”. He made the remarks during an interview at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Editors and Economic Opinion Leaders Forum. Forum host and ABS-CBN broadcast personality Rico Hizon asked the Chief Executive if he could give a hint on who the Filipinos must elect.

“Somebody who understands economics, that’s the first thing, that’s the first thing. A person who knows how to create jobs, how to keep inflation rate down, who understands to make food supply a given, someone who thinks about productivity, because growth is about productivity,” Marcos Jr. said.
Furthermore, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the next president of the Philippines should be “somebody who is thinking not about politics, but how to make the country better”. According to him, the country needs nation-builders and people who love the country and the Filipino people.
Based on a report on PhilStar, Malacañang reacted to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that she has already recruited her running mate in the 2028 Elections. According to Palace press officer undersecretary, the Vice President should allegedly choose a running mate who really works.

Amid the ongoing issues between her and the President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she will not be a vengeful president.
