Mayor Leni Robredo Corrects Viral Claim as Guanzon Post Triggers Heated Reactions
LENI ROBREDO – Mayor Leni Robredo has spoken up after a viral post appeared to connect her administration to an alleged incident involving a Naga City Hall employee and a vendor.
Naga City Mayor and former Vice President Leni Robredo has clarified a social media post involving an alleged incident between a city hall employee and a vendor, after the post appeared to connect the controversy to her administration.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, August 29, Robredo shared a screenshot of a Reddit post that had amplified an X post by Atty. Rowena Guanzon concerning an alleged abusive city hall employee.

“Does the mayor of Naga know that his employee is abusive to vendors?” ani Atty. Guanzon. “A Naga resident sent me a message.”
The Redditor who reposted the statement also expressed anger over the alleged behavior, saying, “Sobrang power tripper!!! Nakakagalit lalo ‘yong kapwa nasa laylayan yung may lakas ng loob mang-ganyan. Sobrang apathetic.”
However, Robredo clarified that the incident being discussed did not happen during her tenure as mayor. According to the Naga City chief executive, the incident occurred several years ago, before she assumed the city’s top local government post.
“FYI, this happened 3-4 years ago. I wasn’t Mayor of Naga yet. We will never tolerate anything of this sort to happen during my watch,” the mayor said.
Her clarification prompted reactions from social media users, with some criticizing Guanzon for what they perceived as misinformation. One netizen wrote, “Jusmee Rowena (atty pa yan sya), na DDS kalang hilig mo na magpakalat ng FakeNews.”

Another social media user, however, defended Guanzon and pointed out that the original post was reportedly several years old. The netizen emphasized that Guanzon’s statement should not automatically be interpreted as referring to Robredo.
“Guys,” it said, “this is a reddit post from 4 years ago, kindly check original poster when you click on the photo. Atty. Guanzon was not referring to current mayor Leni.”
“She specifically said HIS employee, probably referring to the previous mayor. Let’s not jump to conclusions,” the netizen added.
Guanzon had previously supported Robredo’s presidential bid during the 2022 elections. However, following Vice President Sara Duterte’s announcement that she would seek the presidency in the 2028 elections, Guanzon has since aligned herself with the Duterte camp.
