Mike Defensor had this statement about Baste Duterte
Former Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor confirmed that Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte is their “Plan B” for the 2028 elections.
Mayor Baste is the newly appointed Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) president. This happened over the weekend.
Previously, House Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tinio of ACT Teachers party-list Representative said that the younger brother of Vice President Sara Duterte is the second choice for the next presidential election.
Reportedly, this plan was a possible result of the impeachment complaints against VP Sara. To recall, the Vice President has already declared that she will be running for president in the 2028 elections.
For some people, VP Sara’s move was too early and could be detrimental to her political career; however, for some, it was strategic for the complaints that she is currently facing.
Based on the article in Abante, following Rep. Antonio Tinio’s statement about Mayor Baste Duterte during the recent episode of Politiko Nightly on Bilyonaryo News Channel (BNC), Mike Defensor confirmed this.
“Hindi na kailangang hulaan ‘yun. Talagang si Mayor Baste ay nandiyan, kasama namin. Kung kanilang aalisin si VP Inday Sara ay kakandidato ‘to. Ikakandidato namin ‘to,” the former congressman said.
Defensor added, “Kung titignan nyo naman, malinaw may tindig ‘to, may pananalita at may paninindigan.”
He also said that Mayor Baste is ready to be the “Plan B” if ever the impeachment complaints against his sister, VP Sara Duterte, push through.
“Kung… ang paniwala nila matatanggal nila ang isang Duterte sa laban, nagkakamali sila,” giit nito. “Dahil mayroong Baste Duterte na maaaring tumindig para sa pamilya at para sa sambayanan,” Defensor stressed.
The former congressman also described Mayor Baste as someone who has the capacity to lead and speak for the newly established Reform Alliance for Good Governance (RAGE) Coalition. Defensor said that this is what former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Nakita ko rin siya sa isa o dalawang meeting, magaling si Mayor Baste. Siguro nahubog na rin ng mga pangyayari at syempre exposed naman siya sa kanyang ama, exposed naman siya sa kanyang kapatid, at alam niya kung papaano magpatakbo ng isang organisasyon at alam niya kung papaano makibahagi at makipag-usap sa mga tao,” Mike Defensor stressed.
