Fire in Cavite Claims Life of Mother and Daughter Trapped Inside Their Burning Home

FIRE INCIDENT – A mother and her daughter after they were trapped inside their burning home in Bacoor, Cavite.

On Tuesday afternoon (March 24, 2026), a fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Poblacion shortly after 2 p.m. It quickly spread and reached the first alarm before firefighters were able to control it after more than an hour.

By the time the fire was put out, at least 11 houses had been destroyed, affecting 14 families or a total of 48 individuals.

A female resident named Ahda De Jesus lost her home in the fire. However, her greatest loss was the death of her cousin, 53-year-old Liezel Eusebio, and Liezel’s 79-year-old mother, Fe. The two were unable to escape their house as the fire spread rapidly.

Liezel was known in their community as a former barangay official who managed a small vegetable garden. She worked closely with her mother, who helped her sell their produce. The family shared that Liezel was even preparing to celebrate her birthday later that week, making the loss even more painful.

According to barangay responders, the victims’ house was located in a corner of the compound. The fire had already blocked the front exit, while hanging live wires made it too dangerous for rescuers to enter.

With no safe way out, the mother and daughter reportedly moved to the bathroom, where they were later found.

“Hindi namin mapasok gawa ng mga live wire nakalawit na. Narito yung door nila. Hindi sila makalabas kasi sunog sa harapan. No choice ang mag-ina, sa banyo nagpunta, doon na inabot,” Kagawad Aldwin Felizardo said.

Initial investigation showed that both victims died from suffocation. It was also noted that the daughter tried to protect her mother by covering her with a blanket. They were found lying next to each other.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, with faulty wiring being considered a possible factor. Some affected families are now staying in an evacuation center, while others have taken shelter with relatives as they begin to recover from the tragedy.
