Mother Arrested for Burrying Newborn Baby in Pangasinan Field
A newborn baby was found buried alive at a field in Bayambang, Pangasinan, the mother was arrested.
On Tuesday morning (February 17, 2026), a businessman went to his corn field to check on his crops. When he arrived, he noticed blood stains on the ground. Sensing that something was wrong, he asked his workers to help him search the area to find out where the blood came from.
Despite looking around, they could not immediately find anything unusual. The businessman then reported the matter to barangay officials. Together with some residents, they returned to the field to investigate further.
While scanning the area, they noticed a pile of grass that seemed out of place. When they dug underneath it, they discovered a black plastic bag buried in the soil.
Upon opening the bag, they were shocked to see a newborn baby inside. The infant was still alive but in very critical condition. The baby was rushed to Bayambang District Hospital for emergency treatment.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, the child later passed away. Doctors said the cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest.

Police conducted a follow-up investigation and were able to identify the suspect, who is believed to be the baby’s mother. She is a 32-year-old married woman working as a lady guard and also a resident of Bayambang.
Authorities arrested the woman and are preparing to file a case of infanticide against her.
The incident has left many in the community saddened and disturbed.
