OFW Mother Rushes to Daughter’s Recognition Day, Creates Emotional Reunion

An OFW mother touched the hearts of many netizens after rushing to catch her daughter’s recognition day.

On March 26, 2026, Teacher Jylaianne Granada, shared a video of a touching moment during a school recognition day in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The video garnered various reactions from the online community.

In the video, students were being called one by one to receive their awards during a recognition ceremony at Bunawan National High School. Among them was a student named Melissa Jane, who proudly walked up the stage to receive her medals for With Honors and Conduct Award.

At first, everything seemed normal. Melissa went up alone, ready to accept her achievements. But moments later, something unexpected happened. Her mother suddenly appeared, rushing toward the stage while still carrying her bags. She had just arrived from Hong Kong after working there for six long years without going home.

The mother, Edena Doc Dumrigue, chose to keep her return a secret. She wanted to surprise her daughter and make the day even more meaningful. She arrived at the airport just a day before the ceremony and traveled overnight to reach Agusan del Sur in time.

Instead of just receiving medals, Melissa was met with a warm and tight embrace from her mother. The mother shared that she did everything she could to attend the event and make up for the moments she had missed while working abroad.

Many people online were deeply moved by the video. For Edena and daughter, the recognition day became more than just an awarding ceremony. It became a reunion filled with love, pride, and long-awaited presence.
