PAGASA Says HPAs Ridge to Prevail Over Most Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the ridge of a High-Pressure Area will bring hot and humid weather conditions over parts of the country.

On Saturday (April 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The ridge of a High-Pressure Area will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that the ridge of a High-Pressure Area will be extending over the eastern section of Luzon.

“Itong ridge o extension ng isang High Pressure Area ang patuloy na umiiral sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon, kaya for the next 24 hours patuloy tayong makakaranas ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon dito sa Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa,” Villamil said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Dahil sa epekto ng ridge ng isang High Pressure Area sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon, kaakibat ng weather system na ito ang mababang tsansa ng mga namumuong kaulapan, mababa rin ang tsansa ng thunderstorm activities throughout the day, no chance ng ulan an gating mararanasan sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon,” he added.

The heat index over NAIA, Pasay City station, and the Science Garden in Quezon City may reach 40 degrees Celsius, according to the weather bureau.

The weather agency has advised the public to observe precautionary measures against heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Heat stroke is possible during prolonged exposure to sun heat.

PAGASA advised the Filipino people to drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities, avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor, wear protective gear, and avoid prolonged exposure outdoors.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the eastern section of Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
