PAGASA: Signal No. 2 Up in 15 Areas Due to Tropical Storm Basyang

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that signal no. 2 was raised in 15 areas due to Tropical Storm Basyang. 

On Friday (February 6, 2026), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Basyang will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions. 

PAGASA reported that Basyang was last spotted over the coastal waters of Malimono, Surigao del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is moving 20 kph in a west northwestward direction.

The weather disturbance may pass close or make another landfall over Bohol and the southern portions of Cebu and Negros Oriental. It is expected to remain a tropical storm before weakening into a tropical depression on Friday evening and will become a low-pressure area on Sunday (February 8). 

BASYANG will likely remain a tropical storm while traversing the Central Visayas and Negros Island Region. Further weakening into a tropical depression is possible tonight or tomorrow morning and will be downgraded into a low pressure area by Sunday,” PAGASA said.

  • The southern portion of Leyte (Matalom, Bato, Hilongos, Hindang) 
  • The central and southern portions of Cebu 
  • The southern portion of Negros Occidental 

Mindanao 

  • The northern portion of Surigao del Sur 
  • The northern portion of Agusan del Sur 
  • The eastern portion of Misamis Occidental 

Signal No. 1 

Luzon 

  • The southern portion of Occidental Mindoro 
  • The southern portion of Oriental Mindoro 
  • The northern portion of Palawan, including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands 
  • The southern portion of Masbate 

Visayas 

  • The southern portion of Eastern Samar 
  • The southern portion of Samar 
  • The rest of Negros Occidental 
  • The central portion of Surigao del Sur 
  • The central portion of Agusan del Sur 
  • The northern and central portions of Bukidnon 
  • The rest of Misamis Occidental 
  • The eastern and central portions of Zamboanga del Norte 
  • The northern and central portions of Zamboanga del Sur 
  • The northeastern portion of Zamboanga Sibugay

The weather bureau advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
