Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Speaks on Alleged ‘Wasting’ of Public Funds on VP Sara Duterte’s Impeachment Trial
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao Congressman chided the prosecution team in the impeachment trial of his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte.
In June, the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte started after the transfer of the Articles of Impeachment. The trial followed two (2) impeachment complaints against Duterte being found sufficient in form, substance, and grounds by the House Justice Committee.
There were initially four impeachment raps filed against the Vice President early this year. The first one was set aside by the House Justice panel while the other one was withdrawn by the complainants.
Instead of pushing through with their complaint, Tindig Pilipinas withdraw the impeachment rap they have filed and decided to support the third impeachment complaint filed against the Vice President.
Here are some of the grounds raised against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte:
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection
Amid the impeachment trial, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte asserted that she remains to be “standing still, unbowed” in the middle of the supposed political pressure against her. Recently, the prosecution team dropped the three (3) impeachment articles against the Vice President to speed up the proceedings. Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte reacted to it.
Based on News5, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte chided the prosecution team saying that they allegedly wasted the public funds by dropping the three impeachment articles against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The said impeachment articles are about the alleged grave threats, bribery, and confidential fund misuse.
“Baka makalimutan niyo kung magkano ang sinayang niyong pera ng taumbayan sa 38 araw niyong panggigipit at paninira sa bise presidente,” Duterte expressed based on the post.
Previously, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte also spoke his side on the alleged order to investigate the properties of their family.
