Passenger Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Over P20,000 from Van Driver in Palawan
A 28-year-old passenger was arrested after allegedly stealing more than P20,000 from a van driver at a restaurant in Roxas, Palawan.
According to the Roxas Municipal Police Station, the incident happened on Monday around noon while the van was stopped at the restaurant. The driver, identified as 50-year-old Richard Gustilo, later reported the incident to the police.
Gustilo, a resident of Barangay Villa Libertad in El Nido, noticed that his wallet was missing after the group stopped to eat. He reportedly became suspicious of one passenger who had remained inside the van while the others had the chance to take a break.

Before the stopover, Gustilo had asked the passenger if he wanted to get down and eat. However, the man chose to stay inside the vehicle and rest instead.
When the driver and the other passengers were preparing to continue their trip toward Puerto Princesa City, they discovered that the passenger was no longer there.
Gustilo then checked his compartment and found that his wallet was missing. It contained more than P20,000 in cash, along with his driver’s license.

With the passenger gone, the driver suspected that he was responsible for the missing belongings and sought police assistance.
Authorities later learned that the 28-year-old suspect, who lives in Barangay Samariña, Brooke’s Point, had boarded another passenger van traveling toward Taytay, Palawan.

Through a joint operation by the Roxas and Taytay municipal police stations, officers located and arrested the suspect at the Taytay Public Land Terminal at around 2 a.m.
The suspect was subsequently brought into the custody of the Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper processing and further legal action.
