Passenger Surprised by Taxi Driver’s Reaction to Foreigner Who Didn’t Leave a Tip
A male passenger was surprised by a taxi driver who became upset with a foreigner for not giving a tip after reaching the destination.
Recently, Gian Carlo Alcover Singcol, a Facebook user, shared a photo of the taxi driver who got angry at the foreign passenger for not leaving a tip. The post quickly went viral and gained reactions from the online community.
According to him, he was waiting for a taxi in Ayala when he was told that one was available. As he approached the vehicle, he noticed a foreign man and his wife just finishing their ride. The couple calmly paid the exact fare shown on the meter before stepping out and heading toward a nearby mall.
After getting into the taxi, Gian Carlo sensed something was off. The driver began murmuring while pointing at the couple who had just left. It became clear that he was upset because they did not give any extra payment beyond the exact fare.
For him, the couple had simply paid what was required, nothing more and nothing less. The driver continued expressing disappointment, seemingly expecting more because the passenger was a foreigner.
Gian chose to speak up in a calm and respectful way. He said that giving extra should not be something forced or expected from anyone. He pointed out that people have different situations, and paying the correct fare should already be enough.
The driver fell silent, and the rest of the ride continued without any further conversation. Still, the experience left a lasting impression on the passenger.
