Pickup Driver Who Ran Over Child in Parking Area Loses Driver’s License
The pickup driver who ran over a child at a parking area was permanently banned from obtaining any type of driver’s license.
Recently, the Facebook page Land Transportation Office – Philippines, announced that the driver of a pickup who ran over a child was stripped of his driver’s license. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
LTO made the decision following an investigation and hearing conducted by its Intelligence and Investigation Division. The video of the incident circulated online as it shows the child being hit and dragged by the vehicle while playing inside the parking area of an establishment.

After reviewing the evidence, the agency declared the driver an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The officials ordered the perpetual revocation of his driver’s license and imposed a lifetime ban that prevents him from applying for any driving license in the future.
The investigation also found that the driver violated traffic regulations related to reckless driving and the duty of a driver in case of an accident. Authorities noted that the driver left the area after the incident, a factor that weighed heavily in the decision against him.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck involved in the incident remains under alarm status in accordance with the Show Cause Order previously issued by the LTO.

The agency emphasized that it will continue to strengthen the enforcement of traffic laws against motorists who endanger the lives and safety of others. LTO officials said that drivers who are proven to have acted irresponsibly will be held accountable, as part of ongoing efforts to promote safety, discipline, and order on the country’s roads.
