Cong. Pulong Duterte defended Davao’s “progress”
Davao City 1st District Representative Pulong Duterte slammed the statement made by veteran journalist Korina Sanchez about Davao.
In her Memo program on Bilyonaryo News Channel, Korina shared her thoughts on her recent visit to Davao. The veteran journalist said that the place known as the bailiwick of the Dutertes was not as modern as some people have expected it to be.
Apparently, she was underwhelmed with what she saw because she had featured the area in her news reports decades ago. She also pointed out that some areas were “napag-iwanan.”
Following this straightforward statement made by Korina Sanchez, Cong. Pulong Duterte released his response through his post on his official Facebook page.
“Madam Korina Sanchez-Roxas, eto sa akin din lang opinyon to ha. Kung ang tingin mo sa progreso ay puro sosyalan, high-rise buildings, malls at party-party, dyan ka na lang sa sosyalan ninyo,” he said.
The lawmaker pointed out that in Davao, the importance of a working government for the ordinary people is highlighted.
For him, the “911, emergency response, peace and order, health services, disaster response, roads and basic public services” are the main focus.
Cong. Duterte also said that Davao does not need to copy Makati or BGC just to call it “progressive.” He added that the number of hubs like Ayala and Megaworld is the benchmark of success.
“NAPAG-IWANAN? Hangover ka pa ata sa last champagne party niyo ah. FYI lang madam, ang ekonomiya ng Davao City ang pinakamalaking ekonomiya sa Mindanao at Visayas at 601.68 billion pesos,” the congressman said.
Then, the lawmaker said that Korina could call out Davao, but he hoped that the standard should be based on the service provided for the people, and not to the numbers of party hubs and expensive estabishments.
Cong. Pulong Duterte also pointed out that Davao has a good economy and that they are not looking for applause from Manila. He also said that what is more important for them is the opinion of Dabawenyos and not from “mga ipokritang socialite na mga kakilala niyo.”
Then, the congressman had this message for Korina Sanchez: “KUMUSTA NA BA IMUNG BANA? UNSA GANI IYANG NABUHAT? GA INUM BA GIHAPON SIYA SA PLATO? KALIMOT KO SA NGALAN SORRY MADAM.”
