Robin Padilla likened FPRRD to Lapu-Lapu and Rizal
Senator Robin Padilla had a recent strong declaration about former President Rodrigo Duterte, and this received polarizing reactions from the online community.
Padilla has been a strong supporter of Duterte for many years now. From being an actor, known as the “Bad Boy of Philippines Movies,” he ventured into political arena in 2022, when he ran for Senator.
His decision to enter politics was criticized by many Filipinos, but the result of the election favored him, as he was elected as the number one senator at that time.

Two years before the next presidential elections, speculations have already surfaced about Sen. Robin Padilla’s next political move. He could seek reelection or go for a higher position. However, Padilla has stated that he has no plan to run in the 2028 elections, even though some supporters were pushing him to be the running mate of Vice President Sara Duterte, who has earlier declared that she will be running for president.
Nevertheless, Padilla continue to show support for the Dutertes, especially for FPRRD. In a recent speech before his fellow Duterte supporters, Padilla called the former president as “bayani,” based on the video shared on the Facebook page of Abante News Online.

He stressed that Digong, the former president’s nickname, is the true Filipino. “Tandaan natin yun, kung sino yung parang si Lapu-Lapu na tumindig para lumaban sa dayuhan, si Digong yun,” the senator said.
Padilla also said that this was the reason why the former president was brought to the Hague. “Dahil siya, sa panahon ngayon, ang bayani. Tandaan ninyo,” Padilla stressed.
He added that Duterte can be compared to the heroes in the Philippine history like Sakay, Gabriela Silang, and Jose Rizal, who fought againts foreign entities. Then, the senator reminded his fellow supporters that they are going against the power of “dayuhan.”
