Rodrigo Duterte turned 81, and his supporters celebrated his birthday
Davao City First District Rep. Pulong Duterte revealed the current health status of his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
FPRRD faces charges of crimes against humanity, specifically murder, allegedly committed during his “war on drugs” program and during his term as Mayor of Davao City between November 2011 and March 2019.
He was arrested by Philippine authorities on March 11, 2025, immediately after arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Hong Kong. Then, he was transferred to The Hague via a government-chartered jet the same day.
Supporters of former Philippine President, also known as “Die-hard Duterte Supporters” (DDS) have become a visible presence in The Hague, Netherlands, following his arrest and detention by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a recent interview by GMA News, Rep. Pulong Duterte said that his father remains strong and has gained weight while in the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands.
The lawmaker said that the family last visited his father on Thursday. “Last Thursday, andoon kami. Medyo tumaba tapos malakas na ang tuhod niya. Inalagaan naman siya. Mabuti sa loob ang mga doctor at nurse,” he said.
Cong. Pulong also said that the former President was aware of the gatherings outside the detention center, especially for the celebration of his 81st birthday.
“Nasabihan ko. Naririnig niya, nandiyan lang siya sa may likod. Sabi ko, sa mga oras na ito, lapit lang siya sa may window,” the former presidential son said. The lawmaker reportedly plans to visit his father again on Monday.
Meanwhile, the son of Rodrigo Duterte joined the celebrations of supporters near the facility. They came from various parts of Europe and the world. The supporters of the former president set up a small stage and sound system and held performances as a tribute to his birthday on Saturday.
