Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Gives Message on Day of Valor
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President issued a message for the Filipino people as we celebrate the Day of Valor or “Araw ng Kagitingan”.
One of the regular holidays in the list of the Philippine Holidays 2026 is April 9 which is a holiday in observance of the Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor. This day marks the commemoration of the sacrifice and bravery of the Filipino soldiers who guarded the corridors of Bataan.
Today, the entire Philippine nation remembers the Fall of Bataan as well as the Bataan Death March during the World War II. Work in government offices as well as classes in schools in all levels are cancelled today for the celebration.
In his message for Araw ng Kagitingan, Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on the Filipinos to always choose to be good Filipinos for the achievement of a new Philippines or Bagong Pilipinas. According to him, the strength of the country is not solely based on the success of the celebration but in how we stood and fought as a nation.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also issued her statement for the Filipino people for the Araw ng Kagitingan. Through a video message posted on social media, the Vice President expressed being one with the entire Filipino nation in celebrating the Day of Valor.
In her message for Araw ng Kagitingan, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed the honor for the soldiers who stood by Bataan. According to her, their sacrifice did not only show the strength of the military but was a great a proof of their love for the country.
Furthermore, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed that today’s event is a reminder that “our freedom was bought at a high price”. According to her, in the present time, valor is found in the courage to defend the country’s sovereignty.
“The Day of Valor reminds us that our freedom was bought at a high price. “It is a reminder that the defense of our Republic is a continuous duty that falls upon every generation. Today, valor is found in our courage to protect our sovereignty and our discipline to uphold the rule of law,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that real bravery is found in the firm stance of protecting our sovereignty. According to her, any foreign attempt to interfere with our justice system is a direct challenge to the freedom fought by the heroes in Bataan.
“Ang tunay na kagitingan ay matatagpuan sa ating matibay na paninindigan na protektahan ang ating soberanya. Ang anumang pagtatangka ng mga banyagang institusyon na manghimasok sa ating hustisya ay isang tuwirang hamon sa kalayaang ipinaglaban ng ating mga bayani sa Bataan,” she expressed.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that we have the capacity to govern our country and our own rules under our own justice system. Based on the post, she called on the Filipinos not to surrender.
“May kakayahan tayong pamunuan ang ating sarili at pairalin ang ating sariling mga batas sa ilalim ng ating sariling mga hukuman. Kagaya ng ating mga bayani sa Bataan, huwag tayong sumuko. Harapin natin ang mga hamon ng ating panahon taglay ang parehong diwa ng katatagan—paninindigan ang isang matatag, ligtas, at tunay na malayang Pilipinas,” the Vice President.
