Camp of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Impeachment Cases vs. the VP
SARA DUTERTE – The camp of the Vice President claimed that she will reveal the identity of “Mary Grace Piattos” if the impeachment trial proceeds.
Following the archiving of the impeachment case against her in 2025, recently, two (2) fresh impeachment complaints were filed against Vice Pres. Duterte before the Office of the Secretary General of the House of Representatives. The complainants are the Makabayan bloc and the Tindig Pilipinas bloc.
Vice Pres. Duterte is accused of alleged betrayal of public trust and gross abuse of discretionary powers over the supposed misuse of the P625-million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in the first impeachment rap filed against her.
In the second impeachment rap filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte which was endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila de Lima and Akbayan party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña, the Vice President is accused of alleged culpable violations of the Constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.
The camp of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that they are ready to confront the accusations and that the allegations against the Vice President supposedly has no basis. According to Atty. Michael Poa, the spokesperson of the legal team of the Vice President, Duterte even wanted the impeachment trial to push through in 2025.
Then, the Supreme Court ruled that the impeachment rap against Vice Pres. Duterte violated the one-year ban rule. It was followed by the Senate archiving the impeachment rap after the SC ruling with a 19-4-1 vote.

Recently, the camp of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she will reveal the identity of “Mary Grace Piattos” if the impeachment trial pushes through. Based on a report on PhilStar, Atty. Michael Poa reiterated their stand that they will respond at the proper forum.
“While it may be a cliché, we have been saying that we will answer it (issue on Mary Grace Piattos) in the appropriate forum. This is the appropriate forum, the impeachment. To answer the confidential activities, there are restrictions as it might jeopardize the ongoing operations,” Duterte’s lawyer said.
The aliases including “Mary Grace Piattos” were used as bases for the impeachment complaints against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on the report, the said name combines the names of a popular restaurant and a local snack brand.
Previously, ahead of the filing of an impeachment rap against her, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that her lawyers are ready for a new impeachment case against her.
