Security Guard Arrested for Alleged Blackmail of Former Girlfriend in Bulacan
A security guard in Guiguinto, Bulacan was arrested for harassment and alleged blackmail of his former girlfriend.
The National Bureau of Investigation’s Violence Against Women and Children Division (NBI-VAWCD) conducted the operation after the victim coordinated a meeting at a fast-food restaurant to confront the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody, and his cellphone was confiscated as evidence. The case stemmed from repeated threats reportedly made by the suspect, who allegedly warned the victim that he would release private photos of her online unless she reconciled with him.
Their secret relationship began in 2024 and lasted until 2025, after which the woman decided to end it and return to her family. The suspect reportedly persisted with threats even going as far as posting photos on social media to prove he would carry out his threats.
Initially, the posts did not reveal explicit content, but as the victim filed complaints with the NBI, the suspect allegedly shared nude photos online. It prompted authorities to conduct the entrapment operation immediately.
The suspect is facing multiple charges, including violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act (RA 9995), the Violence Against Women and Children Act (RA 9262), grave threats, grave coercion, and possible violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act due to the use of digital platforms in committing the alleged offenses.
During questioning, the suspect denied any intent to blackmail, claiming he only wanted answers from the victim and was sharing memories. He admitted to continuing to send messages even though the victim was not responding.
Authorities emphasized that consent to private photos does not mean consent for them to be shared or used as a form of threat. The NBI reminded the public, especially women, to immediately report harassment or online threats to the authorities to ensure protection and prevent further harm.
