An old post by former Comelec commissioner Rowena Guanzon resurfaced after she mentioned considering Sen. Robin Padilla as a potential vice presidential bet.

Some Filipinos brought up a 2022 post in which Guanzon said she would never vote for the former actor.

The reminder came when Guanzon posted the following on X (formerly Twitter) on February 19:

“Tulfo and Aquino not running for VP. Who will run against my bet Robin Padilla for VP?”

Sen. Erwin Tulfo said he and his brother, fellow Sen. Raffy Tulfo, do not plan to run for higher office.

Sen. Bam Aquino also stated that he will not run for vice president in the 2028 elections.

After some saw Guanzon’s post, they recalled her previous statements opposing Padilla.

“Rowena Guanzon 2022 versus @rowena_guanzon 2026,” an online user said, sharing screenshots of Guanzon’s 2022 and 2026 posts.

In February 2022, Guanzon reacted to a quote card featuring Padilla’s comments on extrajudicial killings and the drug war during the Duterte administration.

At the time, Padilla was still a senatorial candidate.

“Kasama na talaga ‘yan. Ang EJK, kasama na ‘yan. Si Andres Bonifacio nga ang unang biktima ng EJK. Kasama na ‘yan,” the former actor previously said.

Guanzon reposted the quote card, commenting, “Hindi ko iboboto si Robin Padilla. Maawa kayo sa Pilipinas.”

Several online users resurfaced Guanzon’s 2022 post after noticing a change in her stance.

“Kalaban niya talaga sa sarili niya HAHAHAHAHA,” an online user commented.

“Ungkatan ng past, haha,” another wrote, tagging Guanzon.

“Balimbing na balimbing,” a different online user saud.

“‘Yan ang kain suka talaga,” commented another Pinoy.

Padilla said he would consider running for vice president in the 2028 elections only if former President Rodrigo Duterte, his ally, asked him to.

The former actor made the comment after Duterte’s daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, announced her intention to run for president in 2028.

“If it’s Digong’s order. If it’s Digong’s order, no one else can give me orders, only Digong. Because I really don’t like politics, everyone knows that… even my mother knows that, my siblings, my spouse. As long as Digong says it, I will follow,” Padilla said.

Sara, meanwhile, said she has already handpicked her running mate for the 2028 elections since last year, but refused to disclose the name, saying she would wait for the person’s decision on their career.
