Iloilo Teacher Earns Negative Feedback Online After Forcing Student to Eat Classmate’s Discarded Chewing Gum
A teacher in Santa Barbara, Iloilo faces criticism for allegedly forcing a student to eat his classmate’s discarded chewing gum.
A student identified as alias “Toto shared that he and his classmate were giggling while chewing gum at the back of the class when the incident happened. Toto responsibly disposed of his gum, while his classmate discarded the used gum onto a piece of wood.
Upon his classmate’s instruction, Toto discarded the piece of wood, unaware of the following consequences. A fellow student’s complaint caught the teacher’s attention, leading to an unexpected incident.
The educator allegedly forced the student to eat the gum attached to the piece of wood instead of addressing the issue calmly. The teacher’s cruelty resulted in scratches around Toto’s mouth.
Adding insult to injury, the teacher allegedly threatened disciplinary action, including potential expulsion from the school, leaving Toto traumatized and refusing to attend his classes.
Toto’s grandmother who acts as his guardian, expressed her frustration upon learning of the incident. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities.
The victim underwent a medical examination to assess any physical harm caused by the teacher’s rude behavior.
The school management expressed disappointment as the teacher was absent during attempts to discuss the incident. The school administration opted not to provide a statement, citing an ongoing investigation into the matter.
DepEd’s Iloilo province division Information Officer Leonil Salvilla emphasized the need for the school head to compile a comprehensive report on the incident. The report will be forwarded to the Regional Office for further review.
The Regional Director holds the authority to implement disciplinary measures if the teacher is found guilty.
