Teacher Out for Morning Walk Dies Days After Being Hit by Motorcycle
A 31-year-old teacher passed away after being hit by a motorcycle while taking a morning walk for exercise in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
On April 8, 2026, the educator was out for a morning walk when she was struck by a motorcycle. Unfortunately, victim died a few days later, on Sunday, April 12, due to severe injuries.
Based on a CCTV recording, the teacher was calmly walking along the side of the road when a fast-moving motorcycle suddenly appeared and struck the victim. The impact was strong, causing the teacher to be thrown a short distance, while the motorcycle also fell to the ground.
Several motorists who witnessed the incident quickly rushed to help. The victim was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save the teacher’s life, the injuries, especially to the head, were too serious. After several days in the hospital, the victim sadly passed away.
Police said the accident happened shortly after 7 in the morning along the bypass road in Barangay 55-C Vira. The teacher was reportedly walking as part of a daily exercise routine to stay healthy.
Authorities later found that the motorcycle rider, a 36-year-old member of the Philippine Coast Guard assigned in Ilocos Norte, had been drinking before the accident. Reports showed that the rider came from a beerhouse prior to the crash.
The driver is now facing a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. The incident has left many in the community saddened, especially fellow teachers and residents who were deeply affected by the sudden loss.
