Tito Sotto could not transfer to his new office right away

Senate President Pro Tempore Vicente Tito Sotto III was taken aback while preparing to move into his new office on the Senate’s sixth floor.

The office was not ready to be used immediately because there was nothing in it. A video shared by Abante showed that everything was taken away.

The office space is traditionally reserved for members of Senate leadership. The turnover followed a Senate leadership reorganization where Sotto assumed the position of Senate President Pro Tempore.

According to a report by Politiko, a senator stated that fixtures and office components previously used by Senator Jinggoy Estrada, including furniture, tiles, the toilet, light switches, door jambs, wall panels, and sections of drywall, had already been removed before Sen. Tito Sotto could move in.

“Walang iniwan. Pati tiles, inidoro, light switch, hamba ng pintuan, wall panels at dry walls, tinanggal. Nagmistulang construction site,” the senator said.

A Senate source stated that Sotto was surprised upon seeing the condition of the office, which is traditionally reserved for members of the Senate leadership.

This prompted the source to wonder if Estrada still harbored any resentment regarding the change in Senate leadership.

“Grabe. Bitter na bitter pa rin ba si Jinggoy? Pati opisina, dinamay,” the Senate source said.

Sotto was elected Senate President Pro Tempore in June following a leadership shake-up in the Senate that installed Senator Sherwin Gatchalian as Senate President.

Meanwhile, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is facing non-bailable plunder and graft charges before the Sandiganbayan in connection with an alleged P573 million kickback scheme involving flood control projects. The Senator, who is a former actor, surrendered on Juine 1, 2026. He is currently detained at the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.
