Tricycle Driver Injured After Being Beaten by Fellow Drivers After Refusing to Share Part of Fuel Subsidy

A tricycle driver in Bacolod City was hurt after being beaten by his fellow drivers when he refused to share part of his fuel subsidy.

The incident happened in Barangay Villamonte and had since raised concern among many in the community.

The victim, known as Rollie, had just parked his tricycle at their terminal when several of his fellow drivers approached him. They were asking for a share of the fuel subsidy he had received from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Rollie explained that he could not give any portion because he had already used the money to support his family’s needs. His refusal did not sit well with the group.

The situation became tense and eventually led to a physical confrontation. Rollie was reportedly attacked by several individuals, leaving him with bruises and wounds.

One of the drivers involved, identified as Manny, later claimed that the situation escalated due to teasing that got out of hand. According to him, emotions ran high, which led to the incident. Despite this, the injuries sustained by Rollie showed how serious the situation had become.

Rolly shared that he fought back only to defend himself during the attack. After the incident, he went to Police Station 4 to report what happened and formally record the names of those involved.

Authorities responded by visiting the area to conduct an investigation and invited the individuals involved for questioning.

The incident emphasizes the struggles faced by drivers, especially when it comes to financial assistance. While aid is meant to help individuals in need, misunderstandings and conflict can still arise.

People are now calling for better understanding and respect among drivers, reminding everyone that help given to one person should not become a source of conflict within the community.
