To help Filipinos cope with rising prices, Senator Bam Aquino proposed to lower VAT to cushion the effects, and Vice Ganda has this to say about it.
Senator Bam Aquino filed a bill reducing VAT from 12% to 10%. This will help Filipinos cope with the rising costs of goods and services amid the Middle East tensions. The proposed bill will cut VAT on goods, services, and petroleum products.
Aquino said that the crisis is impacting both the poor and the middle class and stressed the need to provide relief to both sectors.
“Habang tumatagal ang krisis na ito, hindi lang mahirap ang tinatamaan kundi ang ating middle class, kung saan kabilang ang ating mga kababayang naghahanapbuhay ngunit hindi nakakakuha ng direktang tulong mula sa ating pamahalaan,” Aquino said in a statement.
He stressed that this action might give medium- and long-term solutions to safeguard the middle class from the effects of the ongoing global oil crisis and possible future shocks.
Recently, as someone vocal about various national issues, including politics, Vice Ganda expressed support for Senator Bam Aquino’s proposal.
During the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda asked a contestant about Aquino’s Senate Bill No. 2047, which seeks to reduce the VAT on goods and services from 12% to 10%, with a chance to win PHP 100,000.00.
The contestant, however, failed to answer Vice correctly, but this led the host to laud the senator for filing the measure, saying it will help lower the prices of goods and services, including petroleum products.
“Si Senator Bam Aquino, maganda ‘tong naisip niya. Iyong nag-file siya ng Senate Bill 2047 that seeks to reduce VAT on goods and services, including petroleum products. ‘Di ba? Makakabawas-bawas. Maganda ‘yan,” she said.
