VP Sara Duterte says the Marcos administration is too slow in addressing the anomalies and corruption in government flood control projects.
On Wednesday, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her desire for “immediate action” from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. regarding the alleged anomalies and corruption in the government flood control projects.
She expressed that if one is a president, one must take action immediately if one is already aware of the anomalies that involve a huge amount of taxpayers’ money. The VP even added that an independent body is no longer needed, as the budget is already enough proof.
“‘Di ba dapat nun deretso mo na gawin, tanggalin mo na ‘yung Speaker mo… sabihan mo na ‘yung mga kaalyado mo sa House of Representatives, ayusin n’yo na ‘yung budget, tapos… mag-lifestyle check ka na dyan sa mga congressman at sa mga staff nila,” she added.
Duterte remarked that Marcos Jr. appears uncertain in his decisions and responds too slowly at a time when the nation is seeking swift action.
“Actually, hindi na nga siya too little too late e. Nothing na nga siya. Nothingness na ang ginagawa ngayon,” Duterte quipped.
Meanwhile, the Marcos Jr. administration’s “Sumbong sa Pangulo” has received over 16k complaints since it started last month. These reports will be forwarded to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.
The ICI was the formation of an independent panel to investigate the implementation of flood control and other infrastructure projects across the country, recommending charges against those found responsible for illegal acts.
Through Executive Order 94, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has been tasked to review infrastructure projects carried out over the past decade. The commission is composed of former Public Works Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson and Rossana Fajardo, with Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong serving as its special adviser and lead investigator.
