Will Willie Revillame run again in the next elections?
Veteran TV host Willie Revillame has remained silent regarding circulating rumors that he might run for mayor of Quezon City in May 2028.
Willie ran for senator as an independent candidate in the May 12, 2025 Philippine midterm elections. Before this, there had been instances when it was speculated that e would enter politics. However, the veteran host has turned down previous offers.
Eventually, the rumors of his political plans became louder before the 2025 elections. Initially, Willie stated that he had no plan to run, but his decision eventually changed.

Based on the article in PEP, Willie Revillame was recently asked about the rumors that he will run for mayor in Quezon City. However, the veteran TV host refused to answer this.
Instead, he chose to convey a message to the fans who continue to support his past hit songs, including “Syempre” and “Buksan Mo, Papasukin Ako.”
Other songs that were popular during his earlier career include “Ikaw Na Nga,” “Yun Ka,” and “Miss Pwede Ba”. These were tracks believed to have a strong chance of going viral again.
“Syempre,” composed by Vehnee Saturno in 2012, has seen a resurgence in popularity and gone viral on social media platforms from September 2026 to the present.
Willie recorded the song fourteen years ago, so he cannot explain the reason behind its sudden renewed popularity.
The renewed success of “Syempre” is particularly notable as it reached No. 29 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart dated October 3, 2026. Additionally, the song reportedly peaked at No. 4 on TikTok.

“Hindi ko talaga alam, e. Si Vehnee ang nagsabi sa akin na viral yung ‘Syempre’ na Top 29 sa Billboard at nag-No. 4 sa TikTok,” Willie said.
The veteran TV host was also surprised by the song’s sudden return to the limelight.
“Hindi ko talaga alam [ang dahilan]. Natutulog ka, biglang nag-viral yung kanta mo. Salamat sa inyo, yung ‘Buksan Mo,’ twenty years na. Yung ‘Syempre,’ fourteen years na,” he said.
“Syempre” is not the only old song of Willie’s that has regained popularity in 2026. In January 2026, “Buksan Mo, Papasukin Ako” also went viral. This song was composed by Lito Camo in 2007.
The song’s success came as a surprise to Willie, especially since nearly two decades had passed since its original release and he was not actively promoting it in 2026.
Despite this, Willie Revillame is grateful to the people who continue to listen to and support his songs. “I am so thankful. Sobrang pasasalamat sa inyong lahat,” he said to his supporters.
