Woman from Legazpi City Falls Victim to Online Scam After Food Order for Child’s Birthday Fails to Arrive

A woman from Legazpi City was left devastated after she was allegedly scammed online when the food she ordered for her child’s birthday celebration failed to arrive.

Recently, Marietta Miranda, a Facebook user, shared her frustration after the food order she had prepared for her child’s birthday turned out to be part of an alleged online scam. Her post quickly went viral and received various reactions from the online community.

According to Marietta, she found a Facebook page offering food bundles and decided to place an order for her youngest child’s seventh birthday celebration. She said the transaction appeared legitimate because the seller provided photos, identification, screenshots of supposed successful transactions, and images of a delivery rider.

Believing the offer was genuine, Marietta sent a down payment for the order. She initially thought the remaining balance would be paid upon delivery. However, on the day of the celebration, the seller reportedly requested that the balance be paid in full before the food could be delivered.

Miranda sent the remaining payment. Unfortunately, the promised delivery never arrived. As the celebration drew closer, the seller reportedly stopped responding to messages and eventually blocked her.

Instead of preparing for a happy family gathering, she found herself dealing with stress, disappointment, and sadness. She felt especially heartbroken for her child, who had been looking forward to celebrating his birthday with the food that had been promised.

With limited options, she bought a small cake so her child could still mark the occasion.

Marietta later expressed her gratitude to everyone who extended assistance and support. She also reminded fellow online shoppers to be extra careful when dealing with sellers on social media, especially when making advance payments.
