Woman Loses P90,000 Phone and Cash to Riding-in-Tandem Snatchers
A 26-year-old woman became the victim of a snatching incident carried out by riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay 103, Caloocan City.
On Saturday night, February 28, 2026, the robbery incident happened along 9th Street at around 9:00 p.m. CCTV footage showed the victim walking while using her cellphone when two men on a motorcycle suddenly approached her.
Without warning, one of the suspects grabbed her phone, causing her to fall face down on the ground.

The victim said she often walks in the area and believed it was safe because it is usually well-lit. She also shared that there are usually barangay officers and police around, but that night, she did not see any on duty.
Although there were a few people nearby, she was alone at the time of the incident. Aside from the cellphone worth more than P90,000, the suspects also got away with P5,000 in cash that was tucked inside the phone case.
The victim tried to hold on to her phone, but the attack happened so fast that she lost her grip after falling. She had difficulty identifying the suspects because they were wearing helmets, face masks, jackets, and shoes. Their faces were fully covered, making it hard to recognize them.
“May motor na gumigilid dito sakin sa likod ko then nagulat ako hinablot yung phone ko then wala na ko nagawa. Nakipag ano naman ako kaso di ko talaga kayang ma ano pa yung phone nabitawan ko na siya kasi natumba na din ako,” the victim said.
Barangay 103 Captain Alfredo Ang Jr. explained that the barangay officers were on duty that night but happened to step away briefly for a meal. He added that criminals often wait for the right moment before striking, especially when no officers are visible in the area.
The barangay reminded residents to stay alert, especially when jogging or walking at night. They advised the public to avoid using gadgets openly in public places, as these can attract thieves.
Authorities are now working together to identify the suspects, who were last seen turning onto 10th Avenue after the crime.
