Woman Allegedly Falls Victim to a Scam Involving a Man Who Offered to Clean Their Car
A woman shared her unsettling experience after they allegedly fell victim to a scam involving a man who offered to clean their car.
Recently, Yobe Hidalgo, a Facebook user, shared their experience at a mall in Bacolod City, where they were allegedly targeted by a man who offered to clean their vehicle. The post quickly went viral and drew reactions from netizens.
According to Hidalgo, the man approached them while they were parking and offered to clean their vehicle. However, they declined because they were in a hurry to enter the mall.
After having dinner, the couple returned to their car. Her partner, who already had a feeling that something might be wrong, decided to walk around the vehicle to check for possible scratches or dents. To their surprise, they discovered a dent on the car.
Hidalgo said the same man who had earlier offered to clean their vehicle suddenly approached her partner. He claimed that another vehicle, reportedly a black Toyota Raze, had hit their car. He also said he had taken note of the other vehicle’s plate number and identified its owner as a student from National University.
Before the couple could leave, the man offered to repair the damage himself. According to Hidalgo, he was able to fix the dent. However, after receiving payment, he reportedly complained that the amount was not enough to cover his expenses, prompting the couple to give him additional money.
Hidalgo and her partner were left wondering whether their car had genuinely been hit or if the damage had been deliberately caused to get money from them.
Hidalgo appealed to other residents of Bacolod City to share their experiences if they had encountered a similar situation. She also encouraged the public to share her post to warn others.
