PBBM Confirms Arrest of Zaldy Co, PH Authorities Coordinates w/ Czech Gov’t Now
ZALDY CO – President Bongbong Marcos announced that the former Congressman has been arrested and is now detained in Prague.
Co is one of the alleged central figures in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines — the biggest corruption issue in the country now. Many Filipinos were left disappointed over the alleged involvement of several government officials in the flood control mess.

The flood control scam brought thousands of Filipinos in the streets to protest against corruption in the country. The so-called “Trillion Peso March” was held twice in 2025 as the people called for accountability.
Previously, Department of Interior and Local Government or DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that Zaldy Co to return $1 billion if he wants to talk to the government. He was already out of the Philippines when the flood control issue broke out.

Previously, through a series of videos posted on social media, Co has repeatedly denied the accusations against him over the flood control mess. He also tagged Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the flood control scam.

According to Co, the President and the then-House Speaker allegedly got P56 billion all for themselves as kickback. He also claimed that suitcases filled with money were allegedly delivered to the former House Speaker.
Zaldy Co said he was allegedly told to stay out of the country amid the flood control mess. According to him, the order was supposedly from Pres. Bongbong Marcos and it was relayed by former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Amid the flood control mess, an arrest warrant was previously released against the former Congressman. However, Marcos Jr. himself stressed that the country cannot bring home Zaldy Co right away as there are processes in other nations.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced that Zaldy Co has been arrested and is now detained abroad. Through a social media post, the President said that the former Congressman is “now detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities”

Based on the post, Marcos Jr. said the government is coordinating with the Czech government now. According to the President, the authorities will ensure that all legal processes are followed.
“We will keep the public informed as developments unfold,” the President said.
