14-Year-Old Boy & Accomplice Arrested for Robbing Businessman in Mandaluyong
A 14-year-old boy and his accomplice were arrested for robbing a businessman at an ATM along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.
On Friday, October 16, 2026, two suspects, including a teenage boy, were arrested after allegedly robbing a 43-year-old businessman who had just withdrawn money from an ATM along Shaw Boulevard in Barangay Daang Bakal.
The suspects were identified as a 23-year-old motorcycle driver and his 14-year-old companion, who allegedly threatened the victim with a sharp object. Police officers who were positioned nearby caught the two after the businessman ran for help.

According to the victim, he was walking away from the ATM when the suspects on a motorcycle followed him. The passenger then approached him, announced the robbery, and threatened him with a pointed object before taking his bag.
The businessman tried to hold on to his belongings but eventually ran away after the suspect grabbed the bag. He said he trusted the Mandaluyong police to respond quickly because of their strong presence in the area.
Mandaluyong City Police Station officer-in-charge Col. Rey Ochavo explained that the suspects were from Manila and were unfamiliar with the area. They reportedly encountered the waiting police officers while trying to escape, allowing authorities to corner and arrest them.
Police recovered the victim’s bag, which contained two mobile phones and P5,000 in cash. The motorcycle allegedly used during the robbery and the ice pick reportedly involved in the crime were also recovered.
The 23-year-old suspect is currently detained at the Mandaluyong police custodial facility and faces a robbery complaint. He declined to give a statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the 14-year-old, classified as a child in conflict with the law, has been placed under the custody of the Mandaluyong City Social Welfare and Development Office. The child will undergo counseling and a discernment assessment in accordance with the proper procedures.
Ochavo reminded residents to report suspicious activities and immediately contact the police through official hotlines whenever a crime occurs. He stressed that prompt reporting can help officers respond quickly and prevent further incidents.
