College Student Allegedly Robbed by 4 Individuals
Two individuals were arrested for allegedly robbing a 19-year-old college student Barangay Lopez Jaena, Jaro, Iloilo City.
According to the victim, he had just purchased some items from a convenience store and was on his way home when he encountered four men along the road. The suspects allegedly approached him, warned him not to make any noise, and threatened him with a knife.
The victim said the group took his cellphone, along with the food and drinks he had just bought. Fortunately, he was not physically harmed during the incident, although the experience left him shaken and scared.
Authorities immediately conducted an investigation after receiving information about the robbery. Through the help of CCTV footage and barangay tanods, police were able to identify the suspects involved in the crime.
Two of the four suspects were later arrested in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro. They were identified only by their aliases, Ryan, 22, and John, 18. Police also managed to recover the victim’s cellphone during the operation.
Meanwhile, the two other suspects remain at large. Authorities said both are already of legal age and are now the subject of an ongoing manhunt.
During the investigation, the arrested suspects reportedly told police that they had come from a drinking session in La Paz before the incident happened. They allegedly admitted targeting the victim because they had no money at the time.
The suspects also reportedly claimed that what happened was merely done for amusement.
Police records showed that alias Ryan had previously been apprehended for possessing a knife during the implementation of the Comelec gun ban.
Meanwhile, alias John had reportedly been cited several times in the past for violating curfew regulations when he was still a minor.
The arrested suspects are now facing robbery-holdup charges, while authorities continue searching for the remaining individuals involved in the incident.
