3-Year-Old Girl Loses Her Life After Electric Fan Overheats in Iloilo
A three-year-old girl lost her life after their home in Guimbal, Iloilo was destroyed by a fire believed to have been caused by an overheated electric fan.
On Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2026, the child was sleeping inside their house when the fire suddenly broke out. Authorities later confirmed that the young girl did not survive the incident.
According to reports from the local fire department, the fire reached first alarm at around 2:54 in the afternoon. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and worked to put out the flames. After the fire was finally controlled, they discovered the burned body of the child inside the house.

Initial investigation revealed that the girl had been sleeping on the second floor of their home when the fire started. Her grandmother, who was in the house at the time, reportedly heard the loud cries of the child.
The victim tried to rush upstairs to save her granddaughter, but the flames spread very quickly and filled the house within minutes, making it impossible for her to reach the child safely.

The child’s mother was not at home during the incident as she had attended a gathering in their barangay. The sudden tragedy left the family and neighbors deeply saddened.
Aside from the house where the fire started, two nearby homes were also affected by the flames. The fire caused heavy damage to properties in the area, with the total cost of losses estimated to reach more than two million pesos.

Investigators believe that the fire may have been caused by an electric fan that was overheated while running. However, authorities said the investigation is still ongoing to confirm the exact cause of the fire.
