Amid Gov’t War vs. Drugs, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla Boasts “No Killings”
DILG – Department of Interior and Local Government chief Jonvic Remulla spoke on the anti-drugs campaign of the Marcos Jr. government.
Amid the political rift between him and the Dutertes, President Bongbong Marcos previously confirmed that he will continue the war against drugs but it will be “bloodless”. He stressed that the campaign must be done in a “peaceful way”.

Furthermore, Marcos Jr. stressed that the government will take clear steps under the new concept of fighting the use of illegal drugs in the Philippines. According to him, he wants the authorities to go after not just small people in the drug trade but as well as the big ones.
The President also expressed his desire that the drug problems in the streets will be resolved so the Filipinos will feel secured. According to him, the government will strengthen the rehabilitation efforts to help those who are into illegal drugs get rid of their habitual usage.

“‘Pag nasabit na sa droga ang tao, tinutulungan natin na bitawan niya ‘yang bisyo na iyan. And the of course, continuous enforcement all the drug laws,” Marcos Jr. said.
The administration prior to the current admin is controversial over its war on drugs. Allegations that linked the Duterte drug war to the deaths of several Filipinos remain on the surface and even sparked charges against former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Recently, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla spoke about the war on drugs of the Marcos Jr. government. According to News5, the Interior Secretary stressed that they respect human rights.
“We respect human rights. Naniniwala akong hindi tayo magpoprogreso bilang bansa… bilang Pilipinas kung ang suspensya lang papatayin mo na. Kailangan dumaan sa proseso,” the DILG Chief said.

Based on the post, during the press con, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla announced that the four (4) suspects behind the P5.8 billion illegal drugs recovered from a speedboat in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro have already been arrested.
“We managed to wage this campaign against drugs without killing anyone. Hindi tayo pumapatay ng tao pero nareresolba natin unti-unti ang problema sa droga,” the DILG Secretary added.
However, previously, the presidential sister herself, Senator Imee Marcos, accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos of allegedly using illegal drugs.
