This was the question of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada to Senator Bam Aquino after the latter delivered a privilege speech on education. In his speech, Senator Aquino expressed his gratitude to President Bongbong Marcos, who discussed and addressed educational issues and concerns in his SONA 2025.
In the president’s SONA, he mentioned his commitment to build 40,000 classrooms this year and to deliver the laptops and other gadgets for teachers and students as promised by the government. This move is to alleviate the problems the country’s education system is facing.
“Para sa edukasyon, lahat ho tayo kailangan magtulungan,” Aquino responds to the Senate President Pro Tempore. Aquino is the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, and he promised that the vowed reforms in the education sector will be carried out.
He is also glad that in the next three years, education will be a priority. He would ensure that these reforms and promises on classrooms, connectivity, and support for teachers are fulfilled and implemented.
In his SONA 2025 speech, President Marcos reaffirmed that education remains one of the priorities of his administration. There will be implementation of reforms to address learning gaps, improve teacher welfare, and strengthen foundational learning.
Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program and the expansion of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) initiatives will also be implemented, and the construction of over 300 Barangay Child Development Centers and Bulilit Centers will be pushed through to resolve the daycare facility backlog that has persisted since the 1990s.
