Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has a warning to the public about the Discayas.

On Tuesday, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto speaks about the supposed intention of the Discayas as the probe into flood control projects continues.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto attends the House infra comm hearing on flood control projects on Tuesday, September 9. As much as we all know, it was the post of the Pasig Mayor that opened the discussions regarding the anomalies in flood control projects. It was just a flicker of hope that he started, calling for greater transparency.

Mayor Vico Sotto

In his appearance during the hearing on Friday, he expressed that Curlee and Sarah Discaya, the controversial contractors, might only be positioning themselves as state witness in the case where several of the companies they owned are involved.

With this observation, he warned the public about the supposed “ulterior motive” of the controversial contractors and the intention to “muddle the truth.” For him, what they wanted was to confuse the people and lose sight of the facts. ]

For him, the hearing yesterday showed the glaring lies they spewed.

He noted, “Isang very glaring na kasinungalingan ay ‘yung kahapon (Monday) po ‘no, yung sa sworn statement po nila na 2% to 3% lang daw ang kinikita nila sa bawat kontrata eh kahit naman po hindi ka eksperto sa larangan ng construction o engineering, obvious na obvious naman po na kasinungalingan ito.”

Sotto was even sarcastic when he noted the couple’s claim about some contracts that have caused them losses. He broke down the numbers to further show his point about the impossibility of their claims.

“Nakita po natin isang jade lang sa office nila P100 million na kaagad yun, yung mga sasakyan if they paid the correct taxes it would easy reach almost a billion if not more than a billion. How can you afford that if you are only earning 2% to 3% profit,” he asked rhetorically.

He then furthered, telling the panel, “Buti nalang po ang isda ay nahuhuli sa sarili nilang bibig, buti nalang po ganun sila magsalita in public nalalaman natin ang mga katotohanan.”

Based on the claims of Curlee during the hearing on Monday, the House representatives who allegedly extorted from them are:
