In an interview, Mayor Vico Sotto revealed Curlee Discaya wanted to set up a meeting with him.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto disclosed to the media that controversial contractor Curlee Discaya had sought a meeting with him.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto attended the House infrastructure committee hearing on Tuesday as a resource person. According to him, he was invited and summoned, so he will go, and in the same hearing, he criticized the credibility of Curlee and Sarah Discaya.
He also warned the people about the ulterior motives of the Discayas as the investigation continues, and how their strategies lean toward becoming state witnesses. He also scrutinized their actions to “muddle the truth,” which would confuse the people and cause them to lose sight of the facts.
Pasig Mayor did not mince words as he voiced his thoughts on the controversial Discaya couple during the continuation of the House Infrastructure Committee hearings. He warned the people not to be deceived by them.
Speaking with the media people, he cited that Discaya wanted to name more people involved in the kickback scandal, but later on, he took back his words, saying he won’t name additional individuals anymore. Considering the hundred, or even thousands of projects they handled, naming only 26 people seems not aligned.
He said, “Itong listahan ni Discaya… itong buong statement nila, malinaw na malinaw na kasinungalingan.”
On Monday, the Discayas revealed the names of several congressmen, their staff, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials who are allegedly linked to corruption in the country’s flood control projects.
In the same interview with the media, he revealed that a mutual friend had messaged him, telling him that Curlee Discaya wanted to have a meeting with him. He, of course, rejected this, especially during this time. In addition, he finds no justification for holding a meeting with the individual accused of involvement in the multi-billion peso irregularities.
He doesn’t know what will be discussed in the meeting, but he shared, “May nabanggit du’n na [tungkol sa] state witness. Siguro iniisip niya baka makatulong ako sa kanya pero sa’kin, hindi. Dapat ilabas natin kung ano ‘yung katotohanan.”
