Pres. Marcos Jr. Speaks on Flood Control Mess in PH, Accusations from Oppositions

MARCOS JR. – The President spoke on the speculations that the flood control probe will allegedly eventually lead to Malacañang.

The flood control issue angered countless Filipinos over the supposed multi-billion corruption. What left many people even more disappointed is the alleged involvement of several senators and congressmen in the supposed multi-billion flood control scam in the country.

Controversial contractor couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya accused Quezon City Congressman Arjo Atayde and several other congressmen of allegedly receiving kickback from the flood control projects awarded to their construction companies. They also made the same allegations versus former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co.

Presidential cousin and Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez resigned from being the House speaker amid the accusations of flood control corruption. According to him, he wants the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI to be able to fully exercise its mandate to investigate.

The ICI was formed upon the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It is a three-member body that is currently investigating the flood control issue in the country through closed-door hearings. Previously, the President claimed that not even Romualdez nor his allies will be spared from the flood control probe.

Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, there are speculations and criticisms that the flood control probe will allegedly lead to the doorsteps of Malacañang. Marcos Jr. is being accused of alleged involvement to the flood control corruption.

Recently, the President was asked about his side on the speculations that the flood control probe will lead to the doorsteps of Malacañang. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. tagged the speculations and criticisms as politically-motivated attacks against his administration.

”On this I’m confident that whatever mud might be slung at the administration, that we will be able to show that this is – these are politically motivated and do not actually have any validation in fact,” he said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that he is not hiding anything. Based on the report, the President claimed that the opposition allegedly wants him to be included in the issue of flood control corruption in the country. He stressed that it is not about corruption but allegedly about politics.

”Wala naman tayong tinatago, wala tayong – I know that there are several – the opposition would love to bring me to this – to include me in all of this. But that’s politics,” the President said.

Marcos Jr. stressed that he knows what they did and did not do. According to him, when they investigate, they probe everyone and follow the evidence. Amid the issue, undeniably, there are calls for the President to resign.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s former spokesman, Harry Roque, recently reiterated his call for the resignation of Pres. Bongbong Marcos asking him to give the position to someone who has the right mindset.
