The Philippine authorities have arrested 17 individuals who were accused of alleged involvement in the case of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts. However, the supposed mastermind of the case, business Charlie “Atong” Ang, remains at large.

However, despite the P10-million reward, Atong Ang could still not be found. The Department of Justice believes that the wanted businessman is still in the Philippines amid the manhunt operation to find him.

DOJ believes that Atong Ang is still in the country as it cited the lack of travel records in the Bureau of Immigration. However, the justice department also does not neglect the possibility that a backdoor exit might have taken place.

Recently, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla admitted that he considers raising the reward money versus Atong Ang. Based on a report on GMA News, the Interior Secretary claimed that he will really increase the reward money if he gets angry.

“Malapit na. Kung ako mapikon talagang dadagdagan ko na ‘yan,” Remulla said.

Previously, DILG chief Jonvic Remulla assured that there would be an easy turn over of the P10-million reward for anyone who can give the information that will directly lead to the arrest of Atong Ang. Based on the report, the Interior Chief claimed that he considers the businessman as the number one most wanted person.

While there are reportedly no records of travel of the wanted businessman in the Bureau of Immigration, Remulla previously claimed that there is a possibility that Atong Ang is either in Cambodia or Thailand. His claim came after whistleblower Julie Patidongan said the online sabong also allegedly operates in Cambodia.

Previously, the lawyer of Ang, Atty. Gabriel Villareal, revealed that he advised the wanted businessman not to surrender to the authorities. The DOJ reacted to the advice of Atong Ang’s lawyer for him not to surrender.
