Palace Speaks on Order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid Soaring Oil Prices in PH
BONGBONG MARCOS – Malacañang confirmed that the President has ordered the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to talk to Iran for oil passage at the Strait o Hormuz.
Tehran placed restrictions over the passage at the Strait of Hormuz following the joint airstrikes of the United States and Israel against Iran. The attack led to several deaths including the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

U.S. Pres. Donald Trump previously warned Iran of a much harder attack if it blocks the global oil supply amid the war in the Middle East. However, it did not catch the attention of the Iranians who claimed that they will continue to launch missiles whenever it is needed.
Tehran does not allow the vessels linked to U.S. and Israel to pass at the Strait of Hormuz. The situation has undeniably affected many other countries even if Trump said that the high costs of oil will allegedly be temporary.

However, the remarks of Trump brought no impact towards the Iranian officials. Instead of being scared, Iran warned that it might fully close the Strait of Hormuz. The country which vowed to avenge the death of its officials previously claimed that they will make U.S. regret with the soaring costs of oil.

Iran even warned the world to be prepared for $200 per barrel oil. The Philippines is one of the countries which are currently facing the challenge of high fuel prices. Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously explained that the country is heavily-dependent on oil import.

Recently, based on News5, Malacañang confirmed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos has already ordered the DFA to talk to Iran. The executive order came after diesel has reached P140 per liter following a series of three oil price hikes already.
According to Atty. Claire Castro, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the DFA to talk to Iran about the safe passage of the oil bound for the Philippines at the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing war in the Middle East. Based on the post, the Palace official said that Foreign Affairs Secretary Tess Lazaro may talk to the ambassador or Iran tomorrow or next week.
