Robin Padilla Responds To Critics Over Viral Chain Message
ROBIN PADILLA – A simple Facebook share turned controversial as Robin Padilla faced backlash from netizens questioning his actions.
Senator Robin Padilla has spoken out to defend himself after facing backlash online over his recent social media activity, which involved sharing a now-debunked Meta privacy hoax. The issue quickly gained traction, with netizens questioning whether the senator had verified the information before reposting it, especially considering his large following and influence.
The controversy began when Padilla shared a viral “chain message” on his Facebook page that claimed to offer guidance on protecting personal data on the platform. However, the post was later identified as misinformation, prompting criticism from users who urged public figures to be more responsible when disseminating content online.

In response, Padilla clarified that his intentions were rooted in concern for the public’s safety, particularly regarding the protection of private information.
He further emphasized the widespread issue of misinformation, citing alarming figures about its impact.
Padilla then admitted that he himself fell victim to the misleading post, explaining how it caught his attention.
Despite the criticism, he maintained that his actions were done with good intentions.

He stressed that the post could easily be deleted if proven false and reiterated that his priority was to raise awareness about safeguarding personal data across social media platforms.
“Ito ang tinatawag na in good faith. Mabuting intensyon.
In closing, the senator thanked those who alerted him to the issue and acknowledged the need to correct the mistake.
“Bagamat wala tayong nasaktan dahil ito ay malinaw na in good faith to help people protect themselves, nakapagmulat tayo sa maling paraan kaya pakibura/ delete na rin ninyo dahil ito ay fake news,” he concluded.
