Here’s what Vice President Sara Duterte said about this.
Amid the ongoing struggles with high pump prices, Vice President Sara Duterte has this to say about the supply issues.
When the Middle East tension started, one of the hardest-hit countries was the Philippines. In just a span of a few months, the fuel prices doubled, which directly impacted all the other goods and services. The inflation also ballooned, which burdened the people.

In Southeast Asia, the Philippines’ situation when it comes to oil prices was among the most extreme cases. However, as of March 30, the Philippines was no longer in this situation.
There’s a ceasefire ongoing, but according to the authorities, this will not make everything normal again. Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said that this is because of the damaged oil infrastructure and rising delivery costs. The cost will remain high, but there will be a rare rollback next week as a result of the ceasefire.
The diesel prices could fall by PHP 2.50 to PHP 3.50 per liter next week, and possibly by PHP 1 per liter for gasoline.
What can Vice President Sara Duterte say about lowering the high fuel cost? What could be the solution, according to the second-in-command?

In an interview, Duterte explained that oil prices are largely influenced by international events, especially tensions in oil-producing regions. She believed that one way to bring the figures down was when the war affecting supply routes ends. She believed that this could stabilize global oil production and distribution again.
For her, another way to resolve the crisis is that the country should explore other options, such as sourcing fuel from different suppliers or looking into alternative energy sources to reduce dependence on traditional oil markets.
“Mapapababa siya kung magagawan nila ng paraan yung problema ng supply doon sa Middle East or mapapababa siya kung mayroong ibang supply na hindi dumadaan sa Middle East na papasok sa ating bayan,” she said in a media interview.
