Amid the Poverty and Rising Oil Costs in PH, Marcos Jr. Wants Hunger to End
MARCOS JR. – The Philippine President stressed that while the oil costs cannot be controlled, there are ways to ease the food problem in the Philippines.
The rising oil costs in the Philippines has greatly affected countless Filipinos most especially those who are in the transport sector as well as the daily commuters. The big jump in the pump prices was triggered by the ongoing war in the Middle East.

After the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran which killed many Iranians including their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Tehran imposed restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. It banned the vessels linked to their enemies.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital passageway for 20% of the international oil flow. The ongoing war in the Middle East is currently affecting the global oil supply.

Jeepney drivers and delivery riders are now calling for long-term solutions from the Philippines. Recently, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a big rollback in the costs of fuel but he also admitted that it is not enough and the government should find ways to help the people more.
Despite that Iran agreed for the safe passage of the oil tankers bound for Manila, Department of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin previously admitted that the Hormuz pass won’t immediately relieved the Filipinos from the impact of the oil cost surge. She also believes that it may take a while before the fuel prices will return to acceptable costs.

Recently, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. joined the aid distribution in Manila amid the soaring oil costs in the Philippines. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at the event that gathered selected beneficiaries, the President stressed that the oil prices are not within the control of the Philippine government.
“Wala tayong magagawa doon sa presyo ng langis. Ngunit sa presyo ng pagkain, ‘yun mayroon tayong magagawa,” Marcos Jr. said.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno was also present at the aid distribution event. Based on the report, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his hope that the program will continue and that his dream of eradicating hunger in the Philippines will be a reality when his term ends in 2028.
“Sana po ipapagpatuloy nga natin ito. Sana po ito ay makatulong sa ating mga kababayan. Sana po ay kahit papaano matupad ang aking pangarap na pagbaba ko bilang Pangulo, wala na pong gutom na Pilipino,” the President said.
Amid the corruption issues in the Philippine government, there are also rumors that the President is allegedly ill. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos made another gesture to downplay the rumors about his alleged health problem.
