Racist Tirade Against Pinay Nurse Lands Elderly UK Couple Behind Bars
PINAY NURSE – A disturbing incident in a UK park involving a Pinay nurse has ended with an elderly couple being sentenced to jail.
An elderly couple in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of carrying out a racially motivated attack against a Filipina nurse, an incident that drew widespread attention online.
According to a BBC report, Michael and Fyona Bairstow, aged 77 and 72, were each handed an eight-week jail sentence after confronting British-Filipino nurse Apple Moorhouse in a public park. The court ruled that the severity of their actions, along with the presence of children during the incident, warranted custodial punishment. In addition, both were ordered to pay £175 (around P14,097) each in compensation to Moorhouse.

The altercation happened in August at Manor Heath Park in Halifax, England. Moorhouse was spending time with her two daughters, aged 11 and 6, along with her visiting parents, when the situation unfolded. She approached Michael after his dog ran toward her younger child and began barking, asking him to keep the animal on a leash.
What followed quickly escalated into a disturbing confrontation. A video that later circulated widely on social media showed the couple directing both verbal and physical aggression toward Moorhouse, who was working as a nurse for the National Health Service at the time.
During the argument, Michael reportedly told her, “Shut up, f—k off, and go back to where you came from on the dinghy boat.” Meanwhile, Fyona mocked Moorhouse’s father, saying, “You can’t even speak English.” She also insulted Moorhouse directly, stating, “As for you, do you know what you are? That is what we call slavery,” referring to her profession.
The situation intensified when Michael allegedly commanded his dog to “get her, kill” and threw a bowl of water at Moorhouse. As she attempted to leave, Fyona reportedly grabbed her by the ponytail, pulling her backward.

Their lawyer, Raza Hussain, said the couple admitted guilt and acknowledged their behavior, stating they “fully accept the racial language they used was wholly inappropriate, which they deeply regret.” He added that the viral nature of the incident caused them “significant embarrassment.”
Following the ruling, Moorhouse emphasized that the case sends a strong message, saying it was a “clear message” that “racism is not acceptable.” She added, “Hopefully it will send a clear message that racism is a crime.” Despite the outcome, she expressed mixed feelings, saying, “I can’t say I’m glad about it, I feel sorry for them.”
