Tunnel Linked to “Termite Gang” Discovered Near Pawnshop in Novaliches
The police authorities discovered a tunnel believed to be dug by members of the so-called Termite Gang in Novaliches, Quezon City.
The tunnel was found in Barangay Nova Proper and was reportedly leading toward a pawnshop. It was found on the night of April 22, 2026, when a security guard inside the pawnshop noticed unusual sounds coming from a nearby manhole.
Sensing that something was not right, the guard stayed alert and later reported the incident to authorities the following day.

When police responded and inspected the area, they uncovered a tunnel that appeared to have been carefully dug. Authorities believe it was made to secretly access the pawnshop without being noticed.
The discovery suggested that the plan had been in preparation for quite some time.
Inside the tunnel, police found several tools that could be used for breaking in. These included a portable grinder, cutting discs, a rechargeable battery, a hydraulic jack, a crowbar, and screwdrivers.
The presence of these items strengthened the suspicion that the group had planned a detailed operation.
Investigators also found that the tunnel was connected to a nearby building, which may have served as the starting point of the digging. This added to the belief that the suspects had been working quietly and patiently to carry out their plan.
Despite the effort put into the tunnel, police confirmed that nothing was stolen from the pawnshop. No cash, jewelry, or other valuables were reported missing, as the plan was discovered before it could be completed.
Authorities are now continuing their investigation to identify and locate the people behind the attempt. Follow-up operations are ongoing as police work to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of businesses in the area.
